Aside from the obvious red light running (seriously, w hat a moron, t he light was red for him before this video clip even started, probably by several seconds if this signal has a standard-length all-red phase ), this is a great lesson about visibility.
He’s so close to the stopped cars that there’s no way for him to possibly ensure that the next lane was clear. There’ s just no visibility for him to work with from that angle. He can’t see around the camera-car until he puts the front of his car in that “open” lane . Doesn’t mean that proceeding was his only choi ce , though. That asswipe should have backed up and waited his damn turn.
Was there enough room for that? Well, n ot quite enough room in the crosswalk, but as n ear as I can tell it looks like the car behind him still had a chance to back up and make room .
